Adam Suapaia Obituary

ADAM FILO SUAPAIA JR. Adam was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on May 29, 1944, and passed away peacefully on May 4, 2023, at the age of 78. He was a proud veteran, a former professional baseball player for the San Francisco Giants, and a beloved figure in the restaurant and hospitality industry. Starting at the original Duke's in Waikiki as a doorman, and for nearly 25 years, he worked at the Kahala Hilton. There he served many years as the maitre d' of the Hala Terrace (home of the Danny Kalekini Show), leaving an indelible mark on all he encountered. Adam was a devoted father to his three children - Jason, Joshua, and Jamie, and a loving husband to his wife, Carole, for nearly 52 years. Affectionately known as "Papa" to his four grandkids, he also held a special place in his large family as the second oldest of nine siblings; Moani, Harry, Peggy, Iwa, and Sam survive him. Remembered for his generosity, Adam leaves a legacy rooted in kindness, dedication, and unwavering love. Arrangements Provided By: Oahu Cemetery & Crematory

Adam was always a great friend. For many years we were teammates on Danny Kaleikini softball team in the Bar & Restaurant softball league and my wife Stevi and I were honored to have Adam in our wedding party Feb 5, 1974. Just today I learned of Adams passing and would have loved to have been able to pay my respects in person. To Carole we are so sorry to hear this. Adam was one of those people who made the world a better place. Rest in peace my brother.

Adam was a wonderful person and friend I first met while playing football at UH. We became friends and stayed in touch throughout my career in the Marine Corps (which included 2 tours at Kaneohe) -- and beyond. He befriended my mother who also thought the world of him. Adam was larger than life -- both figuratively and literally in person. He is missed. Greg Johnson
