ANDREW ANDY MASAHITO FUJIMOTO On April 12, Andrew "Andy" Masahito Fujimoto, beloved son, grandson, brother, and uncle passed away at his home in Mililani at the age of 41. Andrew's young life was defined by a love of Kendo, travel, spending time with friends, and most of all, spending time with and spoiling his 2 nephews. Andy, a 1999 graduate of Hanalani Schools in Mililani and the University of Hawaii Manoa, spent a lot of his youth at the dojo, where he practiced Kendo with his whole family (father, mother, and brother). Andy loved to travel, working in Japan for one year teaching English, and participated in several international tournaments as well, as a competitor in 5 World Kendo Championships and, most recently, as the General Manager (Kantoku) for the 17th World Kendo Championships in Korea. Andy loved to help people, first as a Student Support Specialist at Hawaii Tokai International College, then, later as a Human Resources Assistant with the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation. In the post-Covid world, Andy focused more on his personal growth, finding a new partner, Charlotte; taking care of his grandma at home; and spending more time with his nephews, Alex and Jake. Andy is survived by his parents, Masafumi and Hisako Fujimoto, brother Wesley (Akiko) Fujimoto, nephews Alex and Jake Fujimoto, and grandmother, Setsuko Hashizume; along with many uncles, aunties, and cousins.
