Anthony Kuni Obituary
ANTHONY TONY WAYNE KALEO'ONOLANI KUNI Anthony (Tony) Wayne Kaleo'onolani Kuni (age 65) was called to his place in Heaven by the Lord on June 19, 2024. He passed peacefully in the company of his family in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born on April 24, 1959, in the town of Haleiwa, HI, the eldest son of Solomon L. Kuni, Jr. and Carlena Pascual Kuni. As a young boy, Tony grew up in the two-story house behind the Hawaiian church, Kealiiokamalu, across the road from the family's favorite beaches which stretched from the U.S. Army beach to Taishogako and Ali'i beaches. Tony graduated from Leilehua High School, Wahiawa, HI, in 1977. He then enlisted in the US Air Force as a fighter jet mechanic and "served" as an exceptional volleyball player and coach, leading the team to many interbase tournament victories. After nine years in the US Air Force, he found employment with Bayless Stationers in LaMirada, CA, through its transition to Corporate Express and finally to Staples with over 25 years of exceptional performance. In 2016, Tony moved to Las Vegas and worked at Sam's Club Tire and Battery, where he retired in 2021. Tony was a loving husband, caring father, grandfather, great-grandfather, an endearing brother, faithful son, wise uncle, respected cousin, and true friend. Growing up, family was a central part of Tony's life where he spent month-long camping during the summers and weekend bowling with aunties, uncles, and cousins. Away from family, he loved sharing his zest for life and surrounded himself with co-workers and friends. He shared his love of volleyball, bowling, fishing, golfing, and camping by teaching his sons and others. An avid bowler, he prided himself with the patch for bowling a 299 game, which was quite a feat! He was also a great "do-it-yourself" handyman, where he often would generously fix anything for the low cost of the price of parts and a case of beer. He was forever helping family and friends whenever he saw the need. You never needed to ask, he was just there with a helping hand. He lived his life spreading the Aloha Spirit with friends, co-workers, and strangers, who became lifelong friends. Tony is survived by his wife of 35 years, Marinili, sons Christopher and Joseph (Kristiana), daughters (from a previous marriage) Amanda Jenkins (Andrew), Leslie Kuni, and Christina Rodriguez (Anthony), nine grandsons, one granddaughter, one great-granddaughter, sisters Jody Murphy (Russell) and Josette Hethcote (David), brothers Jerome and Austin (Terry), and countless relatives and friends. Tony will be coming home to his final rest in Hawaii. The Memorial Celebration will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024 at Ali'i Beach Park, 66-167 Haleiwa Road., Haleiwa, HI at 11:00 A.M. In accordance with Tony's wishes, his ashes will be scattered offshore to join his mother and father.
