My deepest condolences! Professor Dias was a tremendous figure in my education and the beginning of my career. He was one of my favorite professors, He was the one to tell me that I was hired full time after graduation, He encouraged me to leave UH and explore my options when other opportunities presented themselves and He was here when I ultimately returned to the university. I was fortunate to return in time to celebrate his retirement with him and all who loved him. He will be very missed!

Professor Dias did so much for the UH and Hawaii. He was one of the kindest men I have ever known. Brilliant, humble, kind and caring. We need many more like him in this world.

My deepest sympathies to all who knew Austin Dias! Profe Dias, gave and gave to his students at UHM, spreading aloha with his unique teaching style. He took time to talk with me about my goals, life, and, of course, Spanish literature. Gracias profe! You will be greatly missed!

To the Dias Family,
I will forever treasurer your father's kindness and humor your father shared with me, while he was a resident at the Plaza. He and Phil Wood were partners in crime.
I thank you also, for all the kindness ans friendship we established.
My sincere sympathies to the entire ohana.
