Before Jackie O, there was Beatrice O, the matriarch of the family compound & role model for her daughters Karen, Julie & Lori, as well as their respective husbands Alan, Stuart & Jerold & their many children. Every Sunday evening, the entire family shared dinner together at her home & after my return to the islands in 2012, I had the good fortune & pleasure of joining them on several occasions. Bea welcomed me as one of her own & always arranged to have one of my favorites in her house from seasonal lychees to Royal Kitchen's char siu manapua, mango mochi ice cream or Leonard's malasadas. She greeted everyone with a big smile & a lilting laugh as though sharing a private joke between us.

So I was shocked when I got the message that Mrs. O had unexpectedly become seriously ill, developed complications & then passed. We truly regret being unable to say goodbye to this wonderful lady & send our condolences to Karen & Alan, Julie & Stuart, Lori & Jerold, & all your children for your collective sorrow & loss. We have many memories to cherish from her life & love for her ohana that will help sustain us during the rough adjustment ahead. You are in our thoughts & prayers.

With much admiration for your mom, Janie Busch & Mike Mouri
