BERNICE HALELANI VEGAS It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and wife, Bernice Halelani Vegas, affectionately known as "Tutu." She passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on January 20, 2025 after a life richly lived with kindness, love, and devotion to her family and all those whose lives she touched. Bernice was born on July 23, 1932, to Bathwell and Helen Faria. She was one of 10 siblings born and raised in Kaimuki cherished by her close-knit family. Bernice dedicated 40 years of service to the Hilton Hawaiian Village (supervisor of housekeeping) where she met her loving husband of 57 years Bernard Vegas Jr. She loved sports, both playing them and cheering on her grandchildrenKiana, Kamaile, and Jeredin their many activities and events. Helping raise her grandchildren alongside her daughter Malia in California brought her immense pride and joy. Bernice is survived by her devoted husband Bernard, her daughter Malia and son-in-law Jerry, her son Kaleo and daughter-in-law Tika, and her cherished grandchildren Kiana, Kamaile, and Jered. Her family was her greatest treasure and her legacy of love and strength will live on through them. A service celebrating Bernice's precious life will be held on February 10, 2025.
