Bessie Fong Obituary

BESSIE KAM PUI LUM FONG Age 100, of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 25, 2023. She was born on November 17, 1922, in Honolulu, Hawaii. She graduated from McKinley High School and worked at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard, eventually retiring from her role as Supervisor. Bessie is survived by her daughter, Claudette Parnell (Dr. Stephen Parnell) of California; son, Malcolm Fong (Elaine); daughter Suzette Elliott (Douglas Elliott) of New York; seven grandchildren, Christopher Parnell (Jennifer), Aubrey Parnell, Tyler Elliott, Clay Elliott, Taylor Fong, Kainoa Fong, Mia Fong; and two great-grandchildren, Chase and Kyla Parnell. She was predeceased by her husband of 72 years, Archie Fong, on May 10, 2019. Bessie's favorite pastimes were traveling especially to New York and Los Angeles to visit her daughters and grandchildren; family dinners at home with her son and his family and playing mahjong with friends. She touched many lives throughout the years and will be missed by all. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements Provided By: Borthwick Mortuary
