Betty Iwamoto Obituary

BETTY MASAKO MUNESUE IWAMOTO July 20, 1921 - June 24, 2023 Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went home to the Lord on June 24, 2023 where she was reunited with her husband Douglas. Betty was the second of 8 children born to Tokuji and Wasa Munesue. She had to leave school in the 9th grade to help with family finances by working as a housekeeper at a small hotel and as a waitress at her uncle's restaurant. On December 5, 1943 she married Douglas Iwamoto and together they raised 4 children along with Douglas' youngest brother Tony. They would have celebrated their 80th Wedding Anniversary in December of this year. Betty's motivation was to see that her children had the opportunity for higher education since she was denied that chance. Her greatest joy was in caring for her grandchildren and taking them on trips to Disneyland and other amusement parks. She took great delight in riding the roller coasters, especially sitting up front. She also enjoyed trips with her husband to Japan, Australia, New Zealand and the East and West Coasts of the mainland. Betty is survived by her children Karen, Norman(Margie), Jeannie (Clyde) Kutsunai and Coreen. She is also survived by brother-in-law Tony (Doreen) whom she raised as her own child. Her grandchildren are: Bryce (Marie) and Chad Iwamoto; Christopher (Ariel) Kutsunai, Tiffany (Topher Mann) Kutsunai, and Jonathan Kutsunai. She is also survived by nephew Ryan (Tina Marie) Iwamoto and niece Tina (Ken) Harper. Betty's great/grandchildren are: Nicole (Nunag), Branna and Bryant Iwamoto; Olivia and Averie Kutsunai; and Sagan Kutsumann. Her grandniece is Aria Iwamoto and grandnephew is Micah Harper. Betty's legacy is to love and be kind to each other. Her love is with us forever. Private services held. Arrangements Provided By: Hosoi Garden Mortuary
