Brian Suda Obituary

BRIAN HIROMI SUDA "Aloha is a powerful word" Brian passed away peacefully at home on May 29,2023, with his wife Pamela, brother Barry and niece Sarah at his side. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on May 18, 1960, and was a proud graduate of St. Theresa School, Iolani School, and the Brooks Institute of Photography. Upon receiving his Bachelor's degree, he worked within the field of photography in San Francisco, California until 1999, when he returned to Hawaii permanently to care for his aging parents and open his own photography business. Photography was Brian's lifelong passion, and he was fortunate to make his passion his profession. Throughout his lifetime, Brian's friendly nature and wry wit made it easy for him to connect with and make many friends through both his professional and volunteer work. The memories of him continue to bring smiles to peoples' faces. Brian is survived by his wife of 34 years, Pamela Cunningham; his brother Barry Suda (Amy); sisters-in-law Margaret and Teresa Cunningham, and brothers-in-law Michael McLaughlin and Jack Comstock. He is also survived by five loved nieces and nephews and eight grand nieces and nephews. His family also includes the extended Endo families, Hirasaki Ohana, the Cunningham Clan, and beloved neighbors along with those close friends he considered brothers and sisters of the heart. He is also survived by many, many loved friends across the world whom he met through education, travel, love of food, prayer circles, and fantasy football. Brian was forever grateful for the outstanding care, honesty, compassion, and kindness he received from the staff at Kaiser Permanente Hospitals and Clinics, both in Hawaii and California. He found the care and attention provided by the Kaiser Permanente staff to be so much more than just health insurance. Services will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Hosoi Garden Mortuary, with visitation at 4:00 pm and services beginning at 5:00 pm. Brian has respectfully requested that no Koden offerings or flower wreaths be provided. However, if you would like to make a donation in his memory, his favorite causes were Project Dana (902 University Avenue, Honolulu HI 96826) or Be The Match-HI. Uncle Brian was a close family friend, he was is my favorite uncle. He was usually around at family and friends gatherings with my favorite aunty, aunty Pam, and catching a U.H. baseball game. And if there was fishing poles around then guarantee we were fishing, even though we really did not catch much. Hehe but if uncle Brian and aunty Pam was there you guaranteed to be smiling and laughing.... it breaks my heart to have lost him... uncle Brian till we meet on that white sandy beach again and throw out da lines waiting for that bite.... I love you & you will be missed brah...

I once bumped into Brian at a concert back in the 80s. Of course, he was with camera, and took a nice picture of me. He developed the 5 x 7 picture, gave it to me, and I still have it today (framed)! Thank you Brian.
