Cappy Friedman Obituary

CAPPY FRIEDMAN Cappy Friedman, widow of Harry Friedman, and beloved mother of Alexis, passed away peacefully in California on July 5, 2023. She was 93 years old. Cappy will be remembered for her boundless love for her family; her radiant energy, and her kindness and generosity to those around her. Born on August 8, 1929, in Yonkers, New York, she was one of six siblings. Cappy was close to and had wonderful memories of her parents, immigrants from Lithuania in the early 1900's and of her siblings. Cappy met Harry Friedman in New York City and they married in 1954. Shortly after their marriage, Cappy accompanied Harry abroad to India and Pakistan where their daughter, Alexis, was born. The family moved to Hawaii in 1962. Cappy had a 20-year career as a financial officer for several non-profit organizations. Through her working years, she would routinely pack up her running shoes for training runs. She ran in the annual Honolulu Marathon, in the "Run to the Sun" up Haleakala, the Big Island Marathon, and in the New York City Marathons. The family also lived in the Philippines and traveled the world together, always ready to explore both new and familiar locations. And, always with running shoes and tennis racquets nestled in their bags. Cappy is survived by her daughter, Alexis. Services will be private.
