I have so many good memories of Carol. Her cheerful manner and sharp wit made it a pleasure to be around her. Kay and I were happy to host her some years ago when she stayed with us in our Palolo home.
My connections with Carol were many and varied. Perhaps our most important link was through the Hale Mohalu 'Ohana and its offshoot--the nonprofit Coalition for Specialized Housing, of which she was a longtime board member.
Most memorable was a hike and camping trip she, Jim Albertini and I took to the top of Moana Loa almost 20 years ago.
We will never forget you Carol!

My condolences and aloha to Carol's family. May Carol's spirit be with us always. I first met Carol decades ago at Kalaupapa on Molokai at a gathering of our mutual close friend, Bernard Punikaia. Carol had great compassion for the suffering of others. And she gave her all and a joy in life that spread in a very positive way. She stood for justice, peace, and the earth and made the world a better place. I am honored to have been a part of her life. Mahalo and aloha Carol.

I have so much sadness in hearing about Carol. Carol and I and Stote Farnham trained so much for Iron Man triathlons and biking. We had a blast. We did the senior Olympics together in New Orleans. We both placed. Carol had such a rich life with so many different experiences. I wish I had known about her at the end of her life. and later years. My thoughts are to say she was a great lady. my prayers are with her and family and yes, she talked often about all of the children Peggy Regentine.

Carol,
I have fond memories of training with you back in 2004 for the Hawaii Ironman in Kona. I remember leaving on training bike rides for 50-60 miles early in the morning. We were both doing the Hawaii Ironman for the first and only time. I was 57 and you were 63. Though I still consider you a friend, we lost touch over the years.
Rest in Peace

Carol was my BFF taiko buddy who was a fun, caring and absolute joy to weekly car share with. We had such lively car conversations to and from our taiko sessions which I dearly miss!!! She was a force to be reckoned with

Rest in Peace, dear Carol. You were and will always be a treasure to humanity and to the wholeness of civilization. I recall you most for your compassionate connection with the beleaguered Palestinians, esp. Gaza.

I first met Carol in Athens, Greece--even though we lived only two blocks away from each other in Honolulu!! She joined us as a passenger on the US Boat to Gaza, the Audacity of Hope as a part of the 2011 Gaza Freedom Flotilla. She went to Palestine several times and was an ardent supporter of Palestinians!
Carol and friends did 9 years of signwaving on many issues during the Christmas holidays when President Obama came to Kailua for his holiday.
One of the best memories was going diving with Carol with sharks off Haleiwa. We were on the surface hanging onto a rope and looking down at pelagic sharks far down below--all of a sudden, the sharks began coming toward the surface after a school of fish. Carol, Barbara and I swam over each other to get back onto the boat! The sharks really never got near us, but...who could have told! Carol and I laughed lots about that!!!
We have missed Carol here in Honolulu after she moved to California---and we want her to rest in peace!
