Caroline Denyes Obituary

CAROLINE SHIU-LING DENYES Was born in Wailuku, Maui on March 1, 1970 to Eunice Wai Shon Au Denyes and the late John Stewart Denyes. She passed on August 2, 2023, at 53, after a years-long battle with cancer. Although faced very early with significant physical challenges - born prematurely and undergoing two open heart surgeries before the age of five - she willed her way into strength as an adult. She enjoyed playing soccer and battling with medieval style weaponry as a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), a group dedicated to pre-seventeenth century skills, arts, combat and culture. Her SCA friends knew her as "Tigger," a nickname she earned because of her energetic, bouncy demeanor on the battlefield. Inherently creative, her rich imagination fueled her enthusiasm for acting, singing and theater. She was the stage manager for numerous productions by The Actors Guild, All Singing all Talking all Dancing, Windward Community College Players, Hawai'i Pacific University, and other theater companies. She lovingly parented two cats Seattle ("Squee") and Loki, ensuring that they both enjoyed the highest level of care, even during her own hardships. Caroline will be honored with a bayside celebration of life on Wednesday, August 23rd from 2:30p.m. to 5:30p.m. at He'eia State Park in Kane'ohe. She is survived by her mother; brothers, Andrew (Marianne Hale) Denyes and Ian Denyes; sister, Jill (Eric Marr) Denyes; and niece, Naia Marr.
