Charlene Ishimoto Obituary

CHARLENE CHAR SHIZUYO ISHIMOTO Charlene 'Char' Shizuyo Ishimoto was born on April 2, 1950, at Tripler Army Medical Center, a few minutes before her twin sister. Her parents were Masao Tokihiro and Annabelle Mitsue Mochizuki. She and her twin sister Arlene graduated in 1968 from Leilehua High School. Charlene matriculated at the University of Hawaii Manoa, where she earned a degree in Special Education and a fifth-year teaching certificate. She retired in 2016 after 42 years in the classroom. In 1975, she and her mother took ballroom dance lessons from the Aloha Ballroom Dance Club, where Charlene met Jimmy. They married a year later and had one child, Joy. Charlene was known as "Tutu" to grandson Kaleo and grand- daughter Koa'e. Her greatest pleasure was watching them grow up and mature, and having fun at family gatherings. Char enjoyed senior activities and having lunches with fellow retirees and friends. On Saturday, May 17, Tutu slipped into an eternal sleep with Jimmy and Joy at her side. We will remember her as having "a life full of smiles, color, and courage". Visitation at 5 p.m. on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Service begins at 6 p.m. Arrangements Provided By: Hosoi Garden Mortuary
