As a young girl Clem and her family survived the World War II Japanese invasion and occupation of Guam, forced labor, forced march to Manenggon Valley, concentration camp internment and the unspeakable acts of that time. Following liberation of Guam by the United States, Clem resumed her education, excelling in her academics and eventually graduating Valedictorian of her high school class in 1955. That same year she left home to attend the University of Hawai'i at Manoa. While attending college on scholarship she met the love of her life, U.S. Navy submariner Donald P. Fisher. During college Clem was an active member of the Young Democrats of Hawai'i and had the privilege of working with the late U.S. Rep. Patsy T. Mink on her successful Territorial political campaigns and service. Clem graduated from college in 1959 and returned to Guam to work for the government while awaiting arrival of her fianc? Donald and their wedding day of June 18, 1960, at Saint Jude Thaddeus Church, Sinajana, Guam. Clem returned to Hawai'i in 1960 to settle down with Don in military housing on Peltier Avenue, start their family and her career in federal civil service. Clem's early career included working as a personnel administrator for the Department of Defense at Pearl Harbor Naval Station. She later transitioned her federal career to the Dept. of Justice, U.S. Attorney's Office, Dist. of Hawai'i where she retired from federal civil service in May of 1999. Clem was a life-long devote Catholic and a dedicated parishioner of Saint Jude Catholic Church since settling in Makakilo in 1979. Clementina was affectionately known as "Mommy-O", "Mom Fish", "Grandma Fisher" and "Auntie 'Men". She lived her life with compassion and kindness towards all, and with unconditional love and support for all her family, here and abroad.
