Hi Uncle Cliff,
I met you back in 2016, as one of your Pro Care drivers. I´d pick you up from home and take you to your appointments three times a week at Windward Dialysis and also take you home to Waimanalo after your dialysis appointments. We´d have amazing conversations each time. I´ll always treasure each and every one. I was able to meet your beautiful wife, Aunty Jill and my little Sweetheart friend who´d always be waiting for you when I´d drop you off at home. I loved working with your beautiful granddaughter Cobi. She´s like a little sister to me and I know how much her heart is broken with the loss of you. I will always remember and never forget the love you shared with me. You will remain forever in my heart Uncle, until we meet again. I love you.
Brenda (your favorite Pro Care Driver) Just kidding.

Thank you, Dad, for all you have done for Rhani & I. You have been there for us from Day #1, since we lost Jr. You were Jr´s idol, and through the decades, I seen why. The memories are endless, but what stands out most was your strong, yet kind demeanor, and respect for all that has always been reciprocated. Always with supportive words, always with good advice, never ever judging. A rare commodity in our sometimes mean and harsh world.
My first memories of you, like so many Kaiser High students, was of you sitting on the bleachers, watching football practice. Seen you there from my Freshman year... then the next, then I realized who you were, then my friends & I would always convey a, "Hi Mr Kaneaiakala!" You´d come to the gym and watch us play, then talk story with all the athletes...WHO KNEW, you´d become my father-in-law?!
When Jr wanted you to be his Best Man, you cried gratefully, and told him, " Son your Best Man is supposed to be your Best Friend." To which he responded, "You are my Best Friend!" *head down, teary eyes* & you did it. (I´ve never seen a tuxedo worn for such a short time!... I only have a few pictures of you wearing it at the chapel, by the time we were outside taking pictures, there you were in your shorts and T-shirt!!)But you did it for your boy.
Losing him less than two years later, literally broke your heart. Coming back from the accident scene, that morning, walking in to a houseful of family & friends, the house going quiet, then you putting your head down and announcing, "I lost my big boy." Every single one of our lives changed. You grieved, but you became the backbone for me, Mom, Jodi, Nanea, Futa, Cory, and of course RJ. You were doing your own grieving, but you had to make sure everyone else was okay first.
You helped me, through the years, make sure RJ knew who her Daddy was. I told her often, that her Daddy was just like her Papa! Seemingly hard, yet the kindest and most caring person you´ll know. Always there for others and willing to help with anything. A Strong and gentle man wrapped in one being. OH! And were they popular!!!!
Her stories of you echo the same things. She always tells stories of you sitting under the basket at her basketball games, telling her what to do, and when she fell or got hurt, you´d summon her to "Get up!"
But after the game, she´d be right there sitting on your lap or giving hugs!
You being gone, that´s the hardest, watching her miss you. She said she will help make sure her Nanny is ok. She already promised her Arizona cousins, she would be their eyes and ears, and check in on her every day. Her solace is knowing you´re with her Daddy. She believes her Papa is sharing all the stories he missed here on earth. She also is saddened that Rhuyz won´t get to know you, but was grateful for the smiles she brought you the past year, with her dancing and sassy ways.
I could go on and on, Dad, but these are moments that stood out most for me.
You´d be proud of your children for stepping up and taking care of Mom and the planning of your celebration & memorial. Your grandkeiki too, they´re making their way back from the mainland, their boss, Cobi, is already here! And everyone´s main objective is Mom. She will be ok Dad, she has so much love around her, she just misses you, and no one will truly suffice her partner of 64 years! Love you. Thank you. Miss you. Hug and slap Jr for me please
Like I always told you, I will do good by your name
