Craig Nakaguma Obituary

CRAIG CAPPY NAKAGUMA Craig "Cappy" Nakaguma journeyed home on February 23, 2026. He was a kind and caring brother, uncle and friend who will be sorely missed. He was born on December 7, 1957 and raised in Kalihi. He is survived by brother Vern (Denise); neices, Lacey Nakaguma, Ashley (Jared) Skelley and grand-nephews Owen, Elliott, Aiden and Enzo. He is preceded in death by parents Richard and Edna Nakaguma. Cappy is a graduate of Mid-Pacific Institute and the University of Hawaii. He first worked with handicapped and disabled children, doing what he studied for at UH. He found that this took too much of a toll on him because of his compassionate nature. He left this line of work after a short time and found employment at Sears, Ala Moana store. He worked at Sears for 37 years before retiring from Pearlridge, after the closing of the Ala Moana store. Craig gave of his time by helping to coach basketball at Moanalua High School, assisting Dennis Agena with his camps and travel squads, and Mufi Hannemann with his annual basketball tournaments. He never married or had children of his own, but nurtured many young kids as they passed through the programs. We will gather to celebrate his life on Tuesday, April 7 at Nuuanu Memorial Park's East Chapel. Visitation is at 9:30 and service will follow at 10:30.
