Curtis Kam Obituary

CURTIS KAM Curtis Mark Kam, 65, of Honolulu, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025, in Honolulu. Born on February 2, 1960, in St. Louis, Missouri, Curtis was a beloved son, brother, uncle and a creative force in the world of magic. Curtis was known internationally for his mastery of close-up magic, particularly coin manipulation. His innovative techniques and captivating routines earned him accolades and the admiration of magicians worldwide. His acclaimed "Palms of Steel" video series remains a cornerstone for those studying the art of coin magic. For 13 years, Curtis graced the stage headlining the "Magic in Paradise" show at the Hale Koa Hotel in Waikiki, enchanting audiences with his skill and charm. He was a sought-after lecturer, sharing his knowledge and insights with fellow magicians at prestigious venues such as the Magic Castle in Hollywood and the Magic Circle in London. He authored and co-authored several influential works on magic, including "Professional Close-up of Curtis Kam- Deception in Paradise". In 2024 he was recognized with a Special Fellowship from the Academy of Magical Arts. Curtis earned a degree in Biopsychology from Yale University and a Law Degree from the William S. Richardson School of Law. He worked as an attorney in Honolulu. Curtis left behind a lifetime of cherished memories to his parents, Dr. Calvin and Shirley Kam, to his brothers Christopher (Roxanne) and Lance (Jia), and to his nephews and niece, Jarrett, Justin, Richard, and Caroline. He was a father figure to Patrick and Jacquie Moore. A memorial service to celebrate Curtis' life will be held on June 7, 2025, at Diamond Head Memorial Park Chapel. Visitation 9:45 a.m. -- Service 11:00a.m. -- Private Burial. Family asks for your presence as your greatest gift. If you wish to give something, please bring a few flowers which will be combined to create an arrangement in Curtis' memory. Arrangements Provided By: Diamond Head Mortuary Chapel
