Daniel Ward Obituary

DANIEL RUSSELL WARD July 6, 1952 - November 20, 2024 Daniel Ward was the third of four children born to Esther and Willis Ward. He was raised in Wahiawa, Hawaii, attended Leilehua High School and loved being a local boy. Danny joined the army for a short time in 1970 and decided that army life did not suit his style. He moved to Kauai and started a family in the mid-70s but ultimately came home to Oahu and lived out the rest of his days in the place he always knew as home, Whitmore Village in Wahiawa. Danny was an adventurous, Free Spirit who had a unique perspective on life and marched to his own beat. In his youth, he loved women, friends, martial arts, and motorcycles. He traveled extensively to the mainland, throughout the Hawaiian Islands, and the Philippines, and even made it to the Great Wall of China. In October 1982, he became a quadriplegic following an accident at Lumahai Bay on Kauai. After completing a year of physical rehabilitation at REHAB Hospital of the Pacific and learning to adapt- He got back to living life "to the Max." Danny was a Painter, Inventor, Entrepreneur, Writer, Philosopher, Fight Promoter, Martial Artist, and Truth Seeker. He Loved Jesus. Of all his accomplishments, Danny's greatest source of pride was his role as Father to Christopher, Danielle, and Kona. He was an incredible Father, Grandfather, Brother, Son, Mentor, Trainer, Counselor, and Friend. He was incredibly generous and was known to many in Whitmore Village as Uncle Danny. During 42-plus years of being wheelchair-bound, he surpassed all expectations and lived a full, independent, and amazing life! Danny was set free from the bounds of this earthly life on November 20th, 2024. Daniel Russell Ward. A Brilliant Mind and a Man who Lived the Impossible. We met driving back from the Roberto Duran and Sugar Ray Leonard fight. My sister said to me look 9:00, I turned and I saw an Angel. WOW!! Butterflies. We pulled over and were always together when he was on Oahu until that awful day.

I remember you from Church in Wailua. You also gave me a gift of a Lithograph of one of your beautiful paintings. I have it framed in my favorite sitting space in my place. You will always be remembered fondly. This world was a good place with you in it. Thank you for your presence. Aloha until we meet again.
