DARL OK KIM, DARYL Darl Ok "Daryl" Kim, age 90 of Honolulu, passed away on January 30, 2024. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Boo Ja; children Sandra(Sam), Donald(Judy), and seven grandchildren. Darl Ok was born in South Pyongan Province in Korea on September 1, 1933. He immigrated to South Korea at the age of 16 years old and graduated from Inchang High School with top honors allowing him to enter into the prestigious Seoul National University with a full scholarship. After graduating Seoul National University, he received his Masters Degree from Dong Guk University and moved to Honolulu, Hawaii in 1964. He entered into the University of Hawaii and received another Masters Degree in Linguistics in 1969. While attending Christ United Methodist Church on Keeaumoku Street, Darl Ok met his wife Lee, Boo Ja and was married in 1966. Darl Ok and Boo Ja enjoyed their years together at the University of Hawaii and also had one daughter and one son. (Sandra and Donald). Darl had many precious moments together with his seven grandchildren; Lauren, Sammy, Reese, Noa, Liv, Nathan and Nicole. He lived his entire life as a Christian with a grateful heart and compassion marked with the utmost kindness always to all persons. Darl Ok's greatest love in life was his family, and he was a father and grandfather loved and respected by his children and grandchildren. His love for his wife Boo Ja will also be remembered profoundly by his children. Darl Ok lived a full life of health and happiness with his tennis buddies, filled with travel, ballroom dancing, and huge laughter always. A scholar to the end, he always imparted great wisdom and reflective conversations that would only uplift and bring much joy to each person he spoke to. We will always remember and celebrate Darl and his life of humility, love, kindness to others, and most profoundly his dedication to God. Darl received God's call on January 30th due to a stroke, and graduated to his next life peacefully, with all his loved ones surrounding him.
