My friend Darryl was a happy, grumpy, funny, and simple yet complex guy. But what I remember most of all: caring. My fondest memory of Darryl was from years ago when my two kids were still in elementary school and they had to sell cookies or other things for their school fundraising projects each year. He and I and a bunch of our friends are pool players, and back when Hawaiian Brians Billiards had 40 pool tables (not like today where they only have a few tables and the rest of the space is centered around a bar and a few live performance stages), he would take my kids to each and every pool table and tell each customer "Eh, go buy some cookies from my niece and nephew for their school!" Because of his efforts, my kids did really well with sales and they would win a few nice prizes for producing good numbers! LOL! He showed how much he cared for my kids, and I'll always remember that about him. Now he gets to shoot pool with several of our friends whom we've lost over the past few years. Take care, Darryl. Will play some 9-ball with you again someday.
