My husband is a longtime baker at Fendu Boulangerie in Manoa Marketplace, and I occasionally have worked the front there. Darwin was a favorite customer of everyone. We knew his order by heart-4 cinnamon raisin brioche rolls and 1 loaf, in a paper bag. I heard he gifted these rolls to other people. Darwin ALWAYS tipped way more than he needed to or was expected to, even coming back in if he forgot to tip. He was quiet but kind and we all loved seeing him. My husband and I have been wondering what happened, and today i came across his obituary. So sorry to see this. Sending aloha and love to his family. I hope they find some comfort in knowing that even strangers who had small interactions with him could see he was a great person.
