David Paiva Obituary

DAVID A. PAIVA Aged 72, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2024, at home with his family, David fought a hard 12 year battle with Alzheimers, he is finally free. David was born March 21, 1951 in Providence Rhode Island. As a military dependent, he moved around with his family, finally settling in Hawaii, which he made his permanent home. He graduated from Leilehua high school in 1969. David then started in Pearl Harbor Shipyard as an apprentice. He made his career there, as a Shipfitter, Nuclear worker, a Supervisor and Apprentice Instructor. retiring in 2006. David loved decorating for Christmas, creating big wooden scenes for the entire neighborhood. For years folks from around the island would come to view the displays. He was a big UH Fan. He enjoyed attending the games and the tailgate parties. He loved spending time with family, cheering on the grandchildren at all their supporting events, taking them to watch U.H. sports, or just hanging out together at the beach. We would like to acknowledge and thank all the wonderful people who helped us care for David all those long, sometimes hard years. Mahalo to everyone at Bristol Hospice for guiding us through his last few months. David is survived by his wife of 52 years, Diane, daughter Melissa, son Devin, Daughter in law Julia and 3 grandchildren Makel, Reef and Ryah. He is also survived by his siblings; Donna (Jerry), Terry (Norm) and Michael (Kathy.). Private services held. Arrangements Provided By: Mililani Mortuary
