Dean Otsuki Obituary

DEAN WARREN OTSUKI Dean Warren Otsuki, of Kailua, Hawaii passed away on December 8, 2023. He was 61 years old and was born in Gilroy, California. He attended Salinas High School, he got his Bachelor's degree in Business at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, and did an Associates degree in Graphic Design at Honolulu Community College. His great passion was surfing - he surfed for more than 30 years. He co-founded the award winning non-profit organization Beach Environmental Awareness Campaign Hawai`i (B.E.A.C.H.) in 2006. For going above and beyond to protect the reef he received the Living Reef Award and he also received the Astrid and Donald Monson Community Action Award for outstanding community service and contributions to protecting Hawai'i's environment. Dean is survived by his wife Suzanne, brother Jon and his wife Sharon, and his nieces Erin, Isabelle, Jennifer, Angela, Kiri and Lucy and nephews Adam, Jacob, Duncan, Davis, and Rylan.
