I miss Aunty Deb more than anything. She was the heart of the family. She thought about everyone and she worried about everyone. She could befriend anyone, no matter where, and she protected her family through advice and simply being there. She raised all of her grandnieces and grandnephews as her own grandchildren, and she ensured that we were all comfortable, well-fed, and entertained.
She was always unapologetically herself. She swore, she screamed, she jumped, and she laughed. She laughed so often and she had the craziest laugh that could make anyone smile in an instant. One of my favorite memories with her was riding the Zipper. My cousin Jonah wanted to ride it at the Fiftieth State Fair, but because we were so young, we needed an adult with us. She went with us, and she screamed and swore the entire time. An English learner could“ve learned every single swear word from listening to her during that ride.
She was the Krazy Glue that firmly held our family together, and our world is so much quieter in her absence.
