DOLLY ANDRADE Obituary

DOLLY KANANIMAULOA ANDRADE Celebration of life services for Dolly Kananimauloa Andrade will be at Kahikolu Congregational Church on Napo'opo'o Road, Saturday, April 25, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. Dolly died of hypertensive heart disease on October 16, 2024. Born in Honolulu, December 13, 1961, and raised in Kona. Dolly graduated from Konawaena High 1979, then entered University of Hawai'i-Hilo majoring in Business Administration. Her employer was RMT Enterprises security, Ke'ei Recycling & Transfer Station. Dolly's faith-work was at Kahikolu Congregational Church, United Church of Christ (UCC), where she served as Vice Moderator/Treasurer from 2013 until her death. She stewarded congregation initiatives that dedicated 10% of tithes/donations to 8 ministries including the UCC Transition House for mothers rebuilding their lives after domestic violence, and One Great Hour of Sharing funding worldwide health, education and agricultural development, emergency/disaster relief and refugee ministries. She maintained cultural practices and celebrations by co-leading family field trips for maile, liko lehua, ferns and lei-making. At her home at Ke'ei beach, she perpetuated the history of her 'aina hanau (ancestral lands) back to Kekuhaupi'o, the ali'i who taught Kamehameha I war strategy. As part of a group of families, she cofounded Malama O Ke'ei Beach Association (MOKBA), serving as President 2020-2024. MOKBA organized neighborhood watches to malama (care/protect) the beach, "Cleanup Sundays" to remove litter and brush overgrowth, and educated visitors about Ke'ei's history. Preceded in death by parents Rebecca and Walter Jr. and brother Jonathan Andrade. Survived by hanai son Jeremy Waahila; brothers Walter III (Reiko), Lawrence (Sasitorn), Creighton, and Marshal (Michelle); sisters Brenda (Hiram) Rivera, Naleen, and June; two-generations of beloved nieces and nephews; and Andrade, Ortega, Akaka, Stockhoff, Kauakahi, Pestana, and Grace cousins. Family, friends and associates are invited to the 9:30 a.m. service. A pa'ina (meal) will follow in the church's Hale Kapi'olani Pavilion.
