Such an amazing man and legal colleague. Many thanks for everything, Don. You were the best JAG the Army had.

Don encouraged me to pursue my dream of being a writer. I was stunned by his knowledge of James Joyce, especially the stories in The Dubliners and Portrait Of an Artist as a Young Man. He was a one-of-a-kind guy and will be greatly missed.

Don was a friend from Notre Dame. He roomed with a high school classmate of mine, and frequently accompanied us on holidays, when they were too short for him to return to Hawaii. He and his ukulele were great favorites at our holiday parties. Bill Riley, ND `52
