Donna McLanahan Obituary

DONNA BUDGE MCLANAHAN Donna Budge McLanahan passed away peacefully on March 21, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born in Pendleton, Oregon on September 26, 1946. Shortly thereafter, her family moved to Medford, Oregon where she spent her youth. Donna graduated from Medford High school and then attended Bringham Young University in Provo, Utah. There she met George (Keoki) McLanahan. They were married on November 25, 1967 and moved to Honolulu, Hawai'i. Donna finished her Bachelor's degree at the University of Hawai'i and also continued her education to earn a Master's degree in Special Education. She spent several years as a Special Education teacher at both Palolo and Pauoa Elementary working primarily with preschool special needs children. She enjoyed her time in the classroom and seeing her students flourish and grow. After retiring, she continued to spend time in the classroom as a substitute teacher. Donna was devoted to her Mormon religion and held many leaderships positions within the Nu'uanu Ward of the LDS Church. She served others first. In addition to her service with the church, she was an avid bridge player. Many games were shared with a close group of friends throughout the years. Donna enjoyed traveling and went on several cruises with her husband and friends. She also loved reading and many times, would finish a book in a day or two. With her extensive book knowledge and amazing ability to retain facts, she was a master at the game of trivial pursuit. Donna is survived by her loving family: her husband Keoki, sister Barbara Budge Griffin, brother Lou Budge, son John McLanahan and spouse Aly, daughter Carrie McLanahan, and grandchildren Kelly, Haven, Brewer, and Westin. Services will be held June 15th at ll:00 a.m. with viewing at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Nu'uanu Ward. Her ashes will be spread June 17th at 8:30 a.m. off of Kailua Beach with close friends and family, followed by a Celebration of Life. Donations in Donna's memory can be made to the Nu'uanu Ward for their Humanitarian Aid fund, 622 N. Judd St., Honolulu, Hawai'i 96817. Arrangements Provided By: Nuuanu Memorial Park & Mortuary LLC
