DOROTHY NELL BLOOM Our beloved mother and Grams passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 4, 2026. Dot was born at home on the Pease Farm on May 7, 1928, in
Susquehanna, PA to the late George E. and Theda Marion Tingley Pease. Dot grew up free to wander the fields and hills which imbued in her a deep, lifelong appreciation of nature - wildflowers, birds, color, light. She attended a 3-room school, graduated from New Milford HS in 1946, Houghton College in 1950, and pursued studies in Christian Education at Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary where she met the late Rev. Dr. Alfred Bloom, marrying in 1951. Their abiding love and respect for one another continued throughout their lives. Al's career took them to Japan, MA, OR, HI, and CA; retiring back at home in Hawai'i. Throughout her career, Dot worked as a secretary. Her longest position was with the Hawai'i United Methodist District as Camp Secretary. She retired as Executive Assistant to the VP of Development at the Pacific School of Religion spearheading the implementation of the department's first donor database management system. Dot's lifespan included the arrival of electricity and indoor plumbing on the farm to word processing and emails on computers to learning to text at 90. When Al was awarded a Fulbright grant to study in Japan (1957-1959), Dot joined him in the adventure. While in Japan, Dot became mother first to Ross Toshi (on her 30th birthday; the best gift ever!), and then to Lily Marie six months later. Dot LOVED being a mother - reading aloud, baking, playing games, cooking together - she was in her element when she was nurturing and loving her people. Dot was known for having a mind of her own and always had an innate sense of herself. For Dot, that meant living God's message through openness and compassion; she was a wellspring of love. Her bright smile and open arms comfort us even in her absence. Dot is survived her son Ross and daughter Lily (Sam Domingo); granddaughter Heather Bloom (Janet Fratella), grandsons Aaron Bloom (Sarah), Turner Bloom (Becca), and Evan Domingo (Selah Manuwai); hanai grandson Mitchell Condit; great grandchildren Alexi, Noah, Piper, Brody, Harper & Ivy; many beloved nieces and nephews; and the beloved Domingo 'Ohana - Marcie; Willie & Trisha; Jessica; Aaron, Jenn, Teagan & Harvey; and Rachel, Keali'i & Kenna.
