Douglas Stahl Obituary

DOUGLAS STAHL Master Mariner, Douglas Stahl CDR (ret.) USN, 97, passed away June 3, 2023, at home with his wife, Joy Kanchaya Stahl, in Pattaya, Thailand. A Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Doug was born July 11, 1926 in Los Angeles, California. His 26-year naval career included command of USS Tunny SSG 282 on 4 of its 10 Regulus Strategic Deterrent Patrols during the Cold War. He continued his active sea-going life aboard many US merchant vessels. Traveling the world, he made friends wherever he went, always doing it HIS way. He is survived by nine children, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his first wife, Margaret Mary Stahl, mother of his children, and by his second wife, Virginia Stahl. A Special Intentional Mass will be held at 12:00 p.m. on September 8, 2023, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Inurnment: 2:00 p.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl.
