Douglas Westbrook Obituary

DOUGLAS WESTBROOK SR Born in 1962 in American Samoa, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025. At the young age of 7, he journeyed from Samoa to Hawaii, beginning a remarkable life filled with passion, perseverance, and dedication. Doug's love for boxing became a defining part of his life, inspiring countless youth and families through his dedication to the sport. He established a thriving boxing gym on the West Coast, which became more than just a training facility it was a place of hope, mentorship, and transformation. Many young lives and their families found guidance and encouragement under his mentorship, turning struggles into strengths. He is survived by his incredible wife, JoAnn, and his children Sam, Brandi, Eric, Chy, Douglas Jr, Harmonie, and Thor. Douglas also leaves behind 14 cherished grandchildren who brought him immense joy. He was one of 11 siblings nine brothers and two sisters and was lovingly raised by his father, George, and his mother, Paepaeuli Westbrook. Throughout his life, Douglas created multiple businesses and made a profound impact on those around him. His influence extended beyond boxing he touched many lives with his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to making a difference. Douglas's legacy lives on through the countless lives he changed and the love he shared with his family and community. He will be dearly missed but forever remembered as a true champion of hope and resilience. A celebration of his life will be on October 16 where friends and family can gather to honor his memory.
