We were blessed to have known Dr. Nakagawa. His caring and patient nature with the thoroughness of his eye exams were evident from the first time we met him years ago. It was always enjoyable talking to Dr. Nakagawa about golf and his mission work.
Our belated condolences to the Nakagawa family.

I was a patient of Dr. Nakagawa for 20 years. I always looked forward to my eye appointments because Dr. Earle was always so thorough and thoughtful, I'd always leave with a lesson in optometry in that hour and a half I was there and/or an important life lesson. He was extremely knowledgeable, wise, and had a compassion for his work, his family and patients like no other. You are unmatched Dr. Nakagawa. What an honor and blessing to have been your patient. Thankyou for taking in my daughter when no other optometrist believed in her condition. You will be forever missed. No other person I've met so kind, generous and a heart of gold. Malamapono to his 'ohana during this time.

Uncle Earl was my favorite uncle. He always was eager to offer me life advice whenever I asked. He had a peace and calmness about him that transferred to me as my personality is the opposite. He put his family that he loved so much first regardless of the long hours he worked. He will always be a mentor to me and a good example of how I should live. At Thanksgiving he washed dishes and did whatever he could to lighten the load of his family. Could not say enough about what a kind and thoughtful person Uncle Earl is. One time while driving through Kaneohe in the morning Uncle was crossing the street to go to his office. I rolled down my window, tooted my horn and told him "move it we don't have all day". When he saw it was me he both laughed.

Dr. Nakagawa was such a wonderful person as well as a great eye doctor. We talked a lot about golf during my eye exams and he was always so proud of his granddaughters' ability to golf. I can't imagine going to any other eye doctor. He will be greatly missed. My condolences to his family.

I became a patient of Dr. Nakagawa over ten years ago. I had an eye emergency and he was the only doctor that would see me right away. He was always interested in my profession. Asking questions, concerned about my wellbeing. He will be missed, greatly.

What an awesome "Man of God." It was truly a blessing to have our brother in the Lord as our eye doctor. We would often encourage one another, speak about our faith, and even pray together with him during our visit. Our heart is saddened, yet we are encouraged with the words of Jesus that assures us that "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God."

I was in total shock when I called his office this morning to reconfirm my June appointment and to have my eye prescription refilled. He referred me to Dr Rupa Wong to have my double vision corrected. He took care of my eyes. He´ll be missed!
