Edna Abe Obituary

EDNA YOSHIE KURATA ABE 88, of Waipahu, passed away on May 11, 2025, she was born on September 23, 1936 in Waipahu. Edna was the youngest daughter of Toshio and Ethel Kurata. After graduating from Waipahu High School, she attend Honolulu Beauty College and became a hairdresser. In 1957, she married Lawrence Hiroshi Abe in Washington D. C. while Lawrence served in the Army. They raised two children. After returning from the mainland, Edna worked at various beauty salons and finally open her own shop, the Beaute Mist in Aiea. She owned and operated Beaute Mist for over 25 years until retiring in 1988. Later, she and Lawrence became Foster Parents to Stephen Tittle and took care of him for 35 years. She enjoyed getting together with her high school classmates, taking care of her grandchildren, shopping, and traveling to Las Vegas. She survived by Lawrence, her husband of 68 years, son, Duwayne (Georgia) Abe, daughter, Dawn (Christopher) D`Araujo, Stephen Tittle (deceased), grand- children, Tad, Jenna, Jonathan, Jordan, Jaimee, 4 great-grand- children, and her "hanai" family, the Nakamatsu family. Special thanks to Navian Hospice and Nurse Rebecca. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at the Mililani Mortuary's Mauka Chapel. Visitation starts at 5:00 p.m. Services to start at 6:00 p.m. and refreshments at 7:00 p.m. The family request no flowers. Arrangements provided by Mililani Mortuary.
