Edward Cantere Obituary

EDWARD M. CANTERE JR., UNCLE EDDIE Age 83, of Waimanalo, HI; passed away June 7, 2024. Born June 13, 1940, he is preceded in death by his son, John Kalani; he is survived by his wife, Dori Cantere; sons Thomas (Michelle) Cantere, Edward (Lynette) Cantere III; daughter, Dori-Lynne Kaiulani Mei-Ling Olegario Cantere; hanai son and daughter, Zachary and Dawn Tong; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; (brother), Alvin; (sister), Faye; with many nieces and nephews. Mr. Cantere worked in the construction trade for over 50 years. As a former trustee and business agent of the Carpenters Union Local 745, his expertise was in the framing, drywall and finish carpentry. His favorite pastimes included; spending time with family, building hot rods, bowling, and playing Mountain ball for the Carpenters Union. His passion of canoe paddling started in the 1970's with the Son's Of The Pacific Canoe Club and ended with Kai Oni Canoe Club. He has been associated with many canoe clubs in between as well. As a skilled steersman, he loved being out on the ocean and was willing to share his knowledge with whomever wanted to learn. Celebration of Life will be held on July 12, 2024, at Valley of the Temples Memorial Park, Kaneohe, Hawaii. Visitation is from 5 to 6 PM. Services and refreshments to follow. Family requests that aloha attire be worn. Scattering will be held on July 27, 2024, at Kailua Beach Park near Kai Oni Canoe Club Hale at 10am.
