Edward Matsumoto Obituary

EDWARD Y. MATSUMOTO Edward "Ed" Matsumoto, age 96, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 30, 2025, in Honolulu. He was born June 21, 1929 in Lihue, Kauai. He was the youngest child of Rokuichi and Wasa Matsumoto. He was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn Nagoshi Matsumoto. Ed lived a full and happy life. After graduating from Kauai High School, he continued his education at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, before graduating from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor with a Master of Business Administration. After graduation, he joined the Army. During this time Ed and Evelyn reconnected, as they were high school classmates at Kauai High School. Ed and Evelyn were married for 66 years until her passing, raising their close and loving family in Manoa Valley. Ed began his career in banking and finance in Honolulu. He worked for many years at Finance Factors and then transitioned to First Hawaiian Creditcorp and First Hawaiian Bank, where he continued to work until his retirement. In their retirement, Ed and Evelyn played golf and tennis together often. They enjoyed traveling all around the globe. Ed and Evelyn loved spending time gathered with their family. Ed was also a lifelong fitness aficionado and an active long-time member of the Nuuanu YMCA. He is survived by Elise Matsumoto (Craig), Jan Davey (John), Ross Matsumoto (Barbaralene), Edy Galicia (Joe), Dean-o Matsumoto, grandchildren, and great-grand- children. Private services were held by the family. No monetary gifts please.
