Elaine Inouye Obituary

ELAINE MARIKO INOUYE Passed away peacefully in her home in Kaneohe on March 27, 2025, with family at her side, at the age of 79. She was born in Honolulu on September 1, 1945. She is predeceased by parents Makoto and May Nakagawa and brother George (Susan) Nakagawa and is survived by husband Ronald, daughter Michelle (Leonard) Lau, sons Derrick (Christy) and Lance (Shannon) Inouye and grand- children Cassidy and Caitlin Lau. She is also survived by her fur babies Miki and Kimo. Elaine graduated from Kaimuki HS and Business College and retired as a secretary from Ahuimanu Elementary School in December 2000 and shortly after worked for Dr Dewey Tom & Dr Taylor Tom, Optometrist in Kaneohe for over 20 years. She was Co-owner of the family business REC Hawaii. Elaine was a devoted mother and grand- mother "Ama" and dedicated her life to her family. She volunteered many years of her time in support of her children's activities in Little League Baseball, AYSO soccer, Castle HS Band Booster and Cub and Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America. Her passion was always "family and friends". She loved traveling (including cruises) to her favorite places like Japan, Korea, Mexico and the mainland including Alaska. Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Visitation at 5:00 p.m. service begins at 6 p.m. Arrangements Provided By: Hosoi Garden Mortuary
