John (aka Jay) Hansen

Elaine was born just over a year after me, both in New Haven. Our parents were part of the large Lohne, Ibsen and Hansen families who were members of the New Haven Free Church. The three families had aunts, uncles and cousins related to one another. When Elaine was 1 or 2, I was between 2 and 3, and my dad Bill took movies after church one Sunday. Elaine was not yet walking in a stroller. I was old enough to be a nuisance. I was apparently fascinated with Elaine's red hair, gave a yank and made her cry. We were not old enough to remember that it happened except that it became permanent when Dad's movies were developed.
Also many of our three families attended Wheaton for college. I think my dad was first, but I, Elaine, her sister Roberta, my sister Beth and other Lohne, Ibsen and Hansen family members all earned our degrees at Wheaton.

Bob I am so sorry to hear of Elaine's passing. She was a joy to work with and had the most interesting stories to tell with the work you both did with the Internation Ministry. I know she will be greatly missed. My condolences to you and the kids. Brenda Hayes Moses

Elaine and the Metcalf family blessed our family in so many ways while we were members of Third Pres. Especially through participating in STEP and Amicus. Elaine was a most gracious host for any group that was in her home. For Elaine; 2 Timothy 4:7-8
