ELLEN SPRINGER MANN June 14th, 1939 - January 25th, 2026 We celebrate the beautiful life of Ellen Springer Mann, who lived 86 spirited years. Born in North Carolina. Her passing in Honolulu, Hawaii marks the close of a journey that touched many lives. Ellen's love of learning led her to UC Berkeley, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1960. Ellen moved to Honolulu in 1964 where she raised three children. Ellen was an elementary school teacher, realtor, and a para-legal before retiring to travel the world. Exploration and Bridge called to Ellen, and she answered with enthusiasm. She enjoyed traveling across the Pacific Islands, Asia, and Europe, collecting stories and memories at every stop. Most trips involved playing bridge with friends and deepened her respect for different cultures and strengthened her belief in a wide, welcoming world. Closer to home, Ellen balanced action and creativity. Tennis kept her energetic, Bridge kept her mind sharp for years, and beading kept her creative. Mom loved her dogs and always had one, or two, as part of her family. Those who knew Ellen remember her as kind, smart, resilient, and compassionate. These qualities shaped every relationship and guided every choice she made. Her legacy lives on through her daughter, Lisa Mann, and son, Brian Mann (Christine Wu); and grandchildren Kyleigh, Robert, Avery, Chloe, and Marlee. Each one carries forward her love of discovery, her open heart, and her gentle strength. She was also survived by her former daughter-in-law, Sandra Mann-Hawkins, who always treated her as family. Ellen was predeceased by dogs Daisy, Curly, Lindy, Keiki, Frankie, Jimmy and Nani. She is survived by grand dog Lulu, and grand cat, Lehua. No services will be held. Her ashes will be spread this Summer with a gathering of her family. As a memorial to Ellen and her never ending support for our animal best friends we ask for any gifts to be made in her name through a donation to Poi Dogs and Popoki.
