ELSIE TAKARA Obituary

ELSIE SADAMI HIRANO TAKARA 78, of Honolulu, a retired registered nurse for Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children, passed away on February 6, 2023 in Las Vegas after a month long illness surrounded with all her family, extended family and siblings who flew in from Hawaii. A University of Oregon nursing school graduate, she immediately gained employment at Kapiolani Children's Hospital. For 40 years as a charge nurse, she really enjoyed working with the hospital's staff, doctors, patients and most of all her Carter Unit team. She was born in North Kohala to Satoshi and Tsurue Hirano. She is survived by husband Fred, Jr.; son, Scott; daughter, Shari (Jon) Nakagawa; brothers, Sanford (Lynn) and Lyndon Hirano; sister Myrtle (Hilton Hara) Hirano; and three grandchildren.
