ERIC JAMES DOUGLAS CRABBE June 5, 1928 to October 20, 2023 Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and loved ones on October 20, 2023. He was 95 years old. Eric was born in Honolulu to Clarence Edward and Ilan Akamu Crabbe. He was the fourth of seven children including his surviving sister, Momi Crabbe, and brothers, Clarence, William, Vollmar, Mogul, and Sturmar (deceased). He attended Fern School and graduated from his beloved Kamehameha High School in 1946. He witnessed the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941 from his dorm at Kamehameha school. Upon graduation, he joined the US Army and served in Japan; he was honorably discharged in 1947. Utilizing the GI BILL of RIGHTS, he continued his education at Emporia State University in Kansas, where he played quarterback on the school football team. Eric completed his college education at St. Louis University in Missouri. He graduated in 1953 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. Upon his return to Hawaii, he secured a job at the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific, which recently celebrated its 70th anniversary, and was the first Physical Therapist to serve at this facility. He continued his career as a Physical Therapist at Maluhia Hospital, Beverly Manor, and Kaiser Permanente Hospital, retiring from both Maluhia and Kaiser Permanente Hawai'i. In 1960, he married Janet Ho, whom he met at Maluhia. Eric is survived by his beloved wife, Janet, and their four children, Verdene (Scot) Allen, Kimberly Winn, Brenda (Michael) Crabbe-Jones, and Douglas (Kris) Crabbe. Grandchildren include Nicholas and Spencer Allen, Ace and Sydney Winn, Noah, Isaiah, and Chloe Crabbe, and, of course, his Sister Momi Crabbe He was a loving family man and a strong believer in his Catholic faith. His first love was Jesus and he was active in many church activities for more than 61 years at St Elizabeth Church in Aiea. He served as an usher, an RCIA Sponsor, an active prayer warrior in the prayer chain ministry, served in the Hospital Ministry at Kaiser Permanente, and was a member of both the Holy Name Society and The This Man Is You organization. He coached soccer in The 1970s and umpired Little League games. He supported all UH Warrior games. He even completed the Honolulu Marathon in 1978. Being civic-minded, he ran for Honolulu City Council in the 1970s. A loving and committed husband, he will be missed by all who crossed his path. I´m a neighbor of the Crabbes. I´m 77 now and met Mr. Crabbe when I was 14. He is the kindest person I´ve ever known. Always a smile and checking how you´re doing. He was incredibly sharp into his 90´s. I loved hearing him talk about his early years. The man is truly an inspiration to all that knew him. Malama Ko Aloha Mr. Crabbe.

Though I did not know him for long, Mr. Crabbe was one of the most inspiring people I have met. He would dauntlessly go up and down his street, holding on to his walker, with always a smile on his face and a happy word. I send his wife, Janet, my most heartfelt condolences. I'm gonna miss him on my next visit! All my best regards. Caterina

Eric and Janet worked at Kaiser Medical Center with my wife, Kathy Krammer, and myself. He shared an office with Kathy. I would see him on the wards during my rounds. He always greeted me with a wide smile and asked me how I was. Thank you Eric for all the good thoughts. Requiescat in pace.
