ETC PAUL J. SWIDERSKI USN, RET. May 2, 1965 - Dec. 20, 2025 On Dec. 20, 2025, Paul Swiderski went home to be with the Lord after a long and valiant battle with cancer, his wife by his side. Paul and Valerie were longtime residents of Honolulu and active in church life at Faith Baptist, Kailua, and the founding of Harbor Church, Hawaii Kai. Chief Swiderski served in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service for 24 years, on board the USS RICHARD B. RUSSELL (SSN 687), receiving the Presidential Unit Citation for "extraordinary heroism in action against an armed enemy"; the Design Team of the USS SEAWOLF (SSN 21); the Honolulu-based USS LOS ANGELES (SSN 688); finishing his career at Pearl Harbor as Engineering Dept. Director at Naval Submarine Training Center Pacific. Paul moved to Hawaii in 2000 with his son, Paul (Moanalua '03), and his mother, Joan Swiderski, who was active at St. Philomena's. It was here he met his wife, Valerie Mariano Swiderski. Paul was loved by everyone who knew him. He exemplified the Navy values of "Honor, Courage, Commitment." He loved like Jesus loves: sacrificially. Paul's faith is made sight. His hope is fulfilled. Funeral: Punchbowl National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Mon., Jan. 26, 2026, 1:00 p.m.
