Evelyn Shimoda Obituary

EVELYN TSUGIE SHIMODA The third oldest child of Yuukichi and Yukie Mano Shimoda, was born in Aradani (Yamato), Kumamoto Prefecture in Japan on January 19. Her mother brought her to Hawaii when she was a toddler. She later married Masaharu Shimoda, and they were married for over 70 years before his death in 2014. As a couple they enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas, Japan, and to the Eastern Oregon farm. Mom was an excellent cook and baker, but she will mostly be remembered for being the "glue" that kept her family together. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Masaharu, sisters Thelma and Helen, and brothers "Bolo", Takashi and Ken. She is survived by her children, Gail (Tom), Steven (Cathy), and Maud (Charles); grandchildren Barrie (Darryl), Todd (Miyuki) Ken, Kris (Troy), Erin (Anson), and Kim (Masaki) and 8 great- grandchildren: Bailey, Joie, Casey, Dillon, Christian, Nicholas, Kenji and Maya, and special daughter, Karen B. Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements Provided By: Hosoi Garden Mortuary
