Evelyne was teaching both Spanish and French languages at Star of the Sea High School when I met her in 1988. I was a new teacher, and she took me under her wing. She had taught at several private schools in Honolulu, at La Pietra--Hawaii School for Girls, and later at Saint Francis. Evelyne grew up in Germany during WWII, then spent her teen years in Paris. She had many stories to tell about those times. She moved to the midwest USA, in the late 1950's, and then on to Hawaii--which quickly became her favorite place to live; she loved the many cultures and friendly people, the friendliest in the world!
She was a dear friend and loved to tell stories and make us laugh...she will be missed! Aloha, a hui hou.....
