Felipe Bueno Obituary

FELIPE BUENO Felipe Biete Bueno, of Waipahu, also known as Epie, passed away on August 24, 2023, the day he turned 95, at Queens Punchbowl. He was born in Santa, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. Felipe is survived by his beloved wife Flora (also known as Caring), and his daughters Elsie (Jay Fallon), Zeny (Nestor Tamayo), Chita (Richard Caballero), Rosalind (Charles Viray), and Joy (Curtis Wimberly, predeceased). He also leaves behind 16 beautiful grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Felipe arrived in Hawaii from the Philippines in January 1968. His wife and children joined him in November that same year. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family, working as a unionized carpenter. In 1977, he and Flora became licensed care home operators and provided care to Hawaii's fragile elderlies for 22 years. Throughout his life, Felipe had a passion for various hobbies. He loved gardening and grew a lot of trees native to his home county. He also raised roosters and hens. He welcomed stray cats to his home, fed them and provided them a safe and nurturing environment. Felipe also loved to share stories about his journeys through life... growing up as a young boy during World War II, and how when he first laid eyes on Flora, his heart fluttered, and he knew she was the one. It was truly love at first sight. They were married for 69 years and raised a beautiful and happy family. Felipe will forever be missed and will never be forgotten. There is comfort in knowing Felipe is now in heaven, smiling down upon us, with his predeceased father, mother, and sisters Patrocenia and Victoria beside him. Wake service will be held on Wednesday, September 27, at Valley of the Temples Memorial Park Main Chapel. Visitation at 5pm and service at 6pm. Memorial service will be held Thursday, September 28, at St. Joseph Church in Waipahu. Visitation at 10am, mass at 11am. Burial to follow at 1pm at Hawaiian Memorial Park.
