Frances Tanaka Obituary

FRANCES RIEKO TANAKA Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on August 18, 2023. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii to Susumu and Tomiko Sarae. Fran retired after 30 plus illustrious and revered service as an Accounting Systems Analyst for the 14th Coast Guard District. She is also a proud 67' graduate of Aiea High School. Fran is survived by husband Byron, children Travis Lee, Trevor Lee (Lynn Maialoha), Shannon Elies (Daniel), Brandon Tanaka (Krissy) and grandchildren Jordyn and Logan Tanaka and Dylan and Tyler Elies, beloved boys Hachi and Bandit, brother Harry Sarae (Maria), sister-in-law Blanche Sarae and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She is predeceased by parents Susumu and Tomiko Sarae and brother Allen Sarae. Fran will be remembered as a very loving and giving person who was able to blend two families into one cohesive family. A special thank you Dr. Myron Shirasu, Dr. Kenneth Sumida and the staff at Kuakini Medical Center. As requested, private service held, NO Koden, wreaths/flowers just a simple 3 strand pikake lei around her urn. Arrangements Provided By: Diamond Head Mortuary Chapel
