Words are too limited to express my extreme sadness at the loss of Gary Gutcher. No single individual was responsible for my growth and development as a neonatologist and critical thinker. I told him this at his retirement party and he said, "Of course I did." That was Gary.

Dr. Gutcher was a wonderful physician, teacher and mentor! He taught me so much while I was in NP school and afterwards while working in the NICU. I loved his sense of humor and our shared love of jimmy buffet music. He was truly a great man and he make a huge mark on many babies, parents and providers life´s. He will be greatly missed! Aloha!

Thirty-two years ago, Dr. Gutcher came over from MCV to St. Mary's and literally saved the lives of my very premature twin son and daughter.
