Gaynette Nakajo Obituary

Gaynette K.J. (Pang) Nakajo July 18, 1943 - July 19, 2023 A loving and selfless wife, mother, and grandmother, Gaynette passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on July 19, 2023, the morning after her 80th birthday. Gaynette was born and raised in Honolulu and graduated from McKinley High School in 1961. She retired from the State's Department of Taxation, where she had lasting memories and made lifelong friendships. Gaynette's children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She always added a special touch to everything she did for them, including knitting keepsake Christmas stockings for new family members or picking puakenikeni and pakalana from the yard to string lei for special occasions. During retirement, her passion was traveling to China, over 10 trips, and Machu Picchu, Brazil, Danube River Cruise, Korea, and Japan. She enjoyed Korean dramas, and having lunch with retired workers from the tax office and her dear friends. Gaynette is survived by husband Glenn "Stretch" Nakajo; son Greg (Maki) Nakajo; daughter Gayna (Sergio) Buranelli; grandchildren: Cole and Rey Nakajo and Sanoe and Siena Buranelli; sisters: Winifred (Wallace) Aoki, Mildred (Ronald) Wong, Judy (Bertram) Yoshioka, and Cynthia (Clifton) Chee; brothers Jerry (Jerilyn) Pang and Ronald (Royce) Pang. She was predeceased by her parents Richard S.Y. Pang and Gertrude K.W. Pang. Private services have been held. Arrangements Provided By: Nuuanu Memorial Park & Mortuary LLC
