GILBERT LARSON Obituary

DR. GILBERT H. LARSON III SKIP DOC Passed away September 22, 2024, age 79, in Kaneohe, HI. Gil was born November 11, 1944 in Great Lakes Naval Base, Wisconsin to Gilbert H. Larson II and Mildred G. Moen Larson. Gil attended Wake Forest University before pursuing a Doctor of Dental Science at Marquette University. He had further education in comprehensive dentistry at Bethesda Naval Hospital. He joined the Navy serving 2 tours in Vietnam aboard the USS America. After retiring from active duty, he continued in the Reserves and retired as Captain. Next, Gil had a 30-year career with the Spark M. Matsunaga Veterans Affairs in Honolulu, HI, serving for a time as Chief of the Dental Department. Gil was a loving husband, brother, Uncle and Great Uncle. Gil was the beloved husband of Marion (Babe) for 49 years. Gil is survived by Sister, Carole Kossoris (Tom deceased), Brother, Dr. Mark Larson (Sandy), Brother, Cary Larson, (Kris), 8 Cousins, 6 nieces and nephews, 8 great nieces and nephews. Gil was predeceased by his amazing pets: Maile Doberman Pincher, Indy Labrador mix, Missy German Shepard and Siamese cats, Tiki and Shaka. Besides spending time with his wife and loving her cooking of international cuisine, Gil enjoyed golf with his buddies celebrating a "hole-in-one" 4 times. Gil spent every summer on the family owned Pukuana Island in the middle of Great Cedar Lake Wisconsin enjoying family reunions, water skiing, kayaking, famous BBQs and Happy Hour at the "Tiki Bar". A Celebration of Life was held in Hawaii October 22, 2024. Donations may be made in Gil's memory to Alzheimer's Association Aloha Chapter.
