GLADYS HEU Obituary

GLADYS LEN TAI HEU Gladys Len Tai Heu of Kailua passed away on 6/17/2023 surrounded by her family at Adventist Health Castle at the age of 91. Born in Kihei, Maui on 2/16/1932 to Thomas and Kui Kyau Chong she was the 6th of 9 children. She attended Kihei School and graduated from Kaimuki High School in 1951. She worked at Kress before working at Sears for more than 40 years in the housewares, paint and men's departments. Gladys enjoyed baking, making various festive jello molds and cooking for Chinese New Year's. She loved being outside and in the sun she would say she would rather have a pick and a shovel then cleaning house. She learned how to crochet while working at Sears. When she retired she learned how to knit. In her spare time she would also do word find puzzles and word scapes on the iPad at time staying up to 2 AM. Gladys got married in 1958 to Morris Heu and had 2 children Vernon and Valerie who was born on her birthday. Gladys was predeceased by her parents, husband Morris, brothers Ralph, Ronald, Stanley(Vicky), Arthur, sister Ruth (Wilfred) Sen. She is survived by her children Vernon and Valerie, grandson Brenden Aiu-Heu, sister Mabel Ho, brothers Alan and Douglas (Sharon) of Lake Placid, FL, many nieces and nephews. Services will be on Monday, July 17 visitation 9-10, services 10 at Hawaiian Memorial Park, burial 1 at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery-Kaneohe.

Gladys was so nice - when ever John and I were in Honolulu Auntie Ethel would take us to Sears to visit her.
