HARRY LANE Obituary

HARRY GIBSON LANE Born in 1936 at Ft Edward, NY, Harry Gibson Lane was dedicated to public service. He began his public service by joining the United States Army to fulfill his two-year draft obligation, and stayed and stayed, finally completing 50 years of service. 20 years was in uniform, rising from Private to Major, serving in Vietnam, earning decorations including the Legion of Merit and Bronze Star, and being transferred to Hawaii where he completed his military service, and remained, following his military service, with 30 years in civil service, receiving many awards as a budget analyst. He also served the Aha Pa'aina (Statewide Hawaii United Church of Christ Congregational) ten years as Treasurer. In addition, he belonged to the Rotary Club of West Honolulu from 1978, serving in club officer positions including President. He attended Phillips Academy Andover on scholarship, graduating in 1954. Then he attended Worcester Junior College, also on scholarship, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1956. Then he transferred to the University of Massachusetts Amherst, graduating in 1958 with a major in accounting. He continued his education while on active Army duty graduating with a Master's degree from Butler University. He is survived by his wife of 63 years: Jacqueline Malmstrom Lane; daughter: Katherine Lane Mosher and her husband Kyle Mosher; son: William Leland Lane and his husband Dr. John Brook; daughter: Kimberly Lane and her fianc? Matthew Peace; five grandchildren: Kristin Schutte and her husband Michael Schutte, Bryan Mosher and his ex wife Kassidy Burns, Connor Mosher, Aidan Mosher and his wife DezaRae Mosher and Liam Mosher; great-grandchildren: Maguire Schutte, Lillian Mosher, Hudson Schutte, Jasmine Quevara and Skylar Scott; nephew: Frederick Lane IV; niece: Patti Lane; sister-in-law: Jean Lane. Celebration of life to be held at Atherton Memorial Chapel, Central Union Church, Saturday, June 28, 2025, 11am; Visitation: 10:30am.
