HARRY SAUNDERS Obituary

HARRY A. SAUNDERS III Harry A. Saunders III, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025, at the age of 75. Born and raised in Kailua, O'ahu, Harry lived a life deeply rooted in family, service, and aloha. A proud product of Hawai'i's public schools, he carried a lifelong love for these islands and the people who call them home. Guided by a generous spirit, Harry believed in giving back and was happiest when helping otherswhether through his work, volunteer service, or quiet acts of kindness. As the former president of Castle & Cooke Hawai'i and a passionate advocate for strengthening local communities, Harry dedicated nearly five decades to creating homeownership opportunities for Hawai'i families. His mission was always clear: "We build homes for Hawai'i people, by Hawai'i people." That purpose shaped his leadership and brought him lasting fulfillment. Above all, Harry cherished time spent at home with his 'ohana. He is survived by his loving wife, Susie Saunders; sons, Heath Saunders (Heidi), Aric Saunders (Tiffany); daughter, Dr. Lehualani Concepcion; and 4 grandchildren, Hannah, Eli, Austin, and Kia'i. He is also survived by his sisters, Patti Wirth and Lisa Saunders, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family. A celebration of Harry's life will be held on Saturday, July 12, at Hawaiian Memorial Park Chapel in Kane'ohe. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with the service beginning at 5:00 p.m. and a reception to follow. In memory of Harry's kind heart and unwavering dedication to his family and community, we honor the aloha he shared with all whose lives he touched. The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his memory to the Harry A. Saunders III Legacy Scholarship Fund c/o of the Hawaii Community Foundation and the American Cancer Society of Hawaii.
